A CASED SILVER GILT AND MOTHER OF PEARL EPISCOPAL CUTLERY SET, C. GUERRE, LANGRES, 1884. Comprising three cased knives, two with Damascus blades and one with gilded silver blade. Each with ornate gilded throat set with a polished mother of pearl handle with ornate chased and gilded silver pommel, two set with the coat of arms of Archbishop Alponse-Martin Larue (1825-1903) - one missing. The blade of each clearly marked CH. GUERRE A LANGRES beneath the Legion of Honor, one with silver marks, and contained in its original velvet and silk lined leather covered custom fitted case with gilt embossing. Greatest length of knife 10.25 inches (26 cm ). Overall including case 11.75 inches (30 cm). Together with a 12 piece partial gold plated flatware set, ODIOT, Paris. Comprising six soup spoons and six dinner forks, each with the verso of handle engraved with an Episcopal coat of arms, stamp BLANC 72 and ODIOT. Length 7 inches (17.8 cm).
