Description

Each of four cases and bearing a kinji ground, the first lacquered and inlaid with Fukurokuju and his deer beneath a spreading pine tree, a small boy with a crane on the reverse, details inlaid in ivory and coral, signed Shokasai, , with a carnelian ojime; the second of lenticular form, similarly decorated with the 'Heavenly Weaver' working at a loom, while Toei (Dong Yong) stands on the reverse beside spools of yarn, signed Shokasai, , with an ivory ojime lacquered with bamboo stalks and sparrows.
