Description

Of rounded-rectangular form with incurving sides and slightly curved projecting lid, the wood finished in fuki-urushi (a coat of lacquer mostly wiped away before it has dried) and inlaid in carved red lacquer, stag antler, buffalo horn and stained wood with a bee on a large fallen leaf, smaller maple leaves and grasses to one side, signed inside the lid at lower right in a red-lacquer cartouche Teimei, with fitted wooden tomobako box inscribed outside Aki no zu chogan bako (Inlaid box with autumn design), signed inside Nobara Teimei with two seals, one reading Nobara Teimei.(3)
