Due to the foul-biting that occurred on this plate, evidenced by the dark borders and diagonal lines through the subject, Vollard purportedly had most of the edition destroyed. We have found only 9 other impressions at auction in the past 20 years, compared to an average of 30 impressions of the other prints from the Saltimbanques suite at auction in the past 20 years.
