Paramount, 1951. Unique gold-plated, Peerless brand, fully functional handcuffs. Presented to Eleanor Parker at the premiere of Detective Story . The novelty promotional item has been engraved on the right-side lock housing, "To Eleanor Parker, World Premiere, "Detective Story" Oct. 24, 1951, Paramount Pictures." There were only three known pairs of cuffs presented that night. One pair for Parker, one pair for Kirk Douglas ("Det. McLeod"), and one pair for William Bendix ("Det. Brody"). The cuffs are accompanied by 4-vintage black and white, 8 x 10 in. studio publicity photos (2-retaining studio snipes on the versos) of Parker and co-stars clowning and wearing the cuffs at the premiere. The handcuffs come with their original felt clamshell case with a key. This performance earned her one of three Oscar nominations for Best Actress. Exhibiting minor age and handling.
